eTwinning Project "Would You Play With Me?" – Activities from School Nr.1 Tulucești, Romania

Cristina Cobzaru

Physical Education Teacher
Școala Gimnazială Nr. 1 Tulucești, Galați, Romania 🇷🇴

   The eTwinning project "Would You Play With Me?" provided our students with a wonderful opportunity to rediscover traditional games, engage in physical activities, and collaborate with students and teachers from different European countries.

   Throughout the project, students participated in a variety of educational and recreational activities designed to promote teamwork, communication, cultural awareness, and healthy lifestyles while reducing excessive screen time and encouraging active participation.

Game Workshop Activity

   One of the most enjoyable parts of the project was the Game Workshop Activity, during which students learned and practiced several traditional Romanian games.

Stilt Walking. Students practiced balance, coordination, and concentration while walking on stilts and completing relay challenges.

Defend the Fortress. Students worked in teams to protect their goal while their opponents attempted to score points by following specific game rules that encouraged cooperation and fair play.

Sack Race. This traditional game brought excitement and laughter while helping students improve their agility, balance, and coordination.

Tug of War. Students developed teamwork, strength, and communication skills while working together to achieve a common goal.

Knock Down the Castle. Using soft balls, students aimed to knock down foam brick castles, improving accuracy, concentration, and strategic thinking.

Oina Ball Relay. Inspired by traditional Romanian sports, this activity encouraged speed, teamwork, and quick decision-making. These games helped students develop physical abilities while learning the importance of respecting rules, cooperating with teammates, and demonstrating fair play.

Cross-Cultural Game Exchange Activity

      As part of the Cross-Cultural Game Exchange Activity, our students learned and played the Turkish traditional game "Stop Game", introduced by the students of teacher Ahmet Korkmaz.

This activity allowed students to discover another culture through play and understand that games can connect children regardless of language, nationality, or cultural background.

The experience was both educational and enjoyable and helped strengthen intercultural understanding among project partners.

Game Day Activity

      On 29 May 2026, students of Școala Gimnazială Nr. 1 Tulucești enthusiastically participated in the Game Day Activity organized within the project. During this special event, students took part in various traditional street games and movement-based activities that promoted physical exercise, teamwork, social interaction, and fair play. The day was filled with positive energy, smiles, and memorable experiences, demonstrating that traditional games remain an effective way to encourage active participation and healthy lifestyles.

Collaboration and Project Products

     Throughout the project, students actively contributed to the creation of various project products and dissemination materials. They prepared photographs, videos, presentations, posters, and other materials that documented their activities and learning experiences.

     Students also participated in collaborative activities and contributed to the development of common project products, including the Digital Street Games Book, project boards, online presentations, surveys, slogan and poster activities, and other materials shared with partner schools through the ESEP platform and social media channels.

     One of the most valuable aspects of the project was the international cooperation between partner schools. Students participated in online meetings where they introduced themselves, presented traditional games from their countries, exchanged ideas and experiences, and learned about the customs, traditions, and cultural heritage of their European partners.

Project Impact

Through participation in the project, students:

  • improved their communication and teamwork skills;
  • increased their participation in physical activities;
  • developed respect for rules and fair play;
  • discovered traditional games from Romania and other countries;
  • strengthened their cultural awareness and intercultural understanding;
  • learned the importance of balancing technology use with active and healthy recreational activities.

Conclusion

     The eTwinning project "Would You Play With Me?" was a valuable educational experience that combined learning, movement, culture, and friendship.

    We are proud of our students' involvement and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with wonderful partners from Türkiye, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, and Romania. The project demonstrated that traditional games continue to play an important role in education by promoting cooperation, inclusion, healthy lifestyles, and cultural heritage.

    We sincerely thank the project founder Ahmet Korkmaz, the co-founder Codruța Rusu, and all project partners for their collaboration, friendship, and support throughout this beautiful European journey.

 "WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY WITH ME?" eTWINNING PROJECT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED"

 The international eTwinning project "Would You Like to Play With Me?", founded by Ahmet KORKMAZ, Geography Teacher and YEGITEK School Coordinator at ASELSAN Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, and co-founded by Codruța RUSU from Romania, has been successfully completed.

## Project Partners and Participating Schools

 The project was carried out with the participation of 15 teachers from Türkiye, Romania, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Portugal.

From Türkiye, Ahmet KORKMAZ, Pelin DELİKTAŞ, and Sabri ESEN represented ASELSAN Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School; Neslihan GÖK represented Denizli 15 Temmuz Şehitler Anatolian High School; and Nurgül GÜNDÜZ represented Konya Meram Melike Hatun Special Education Vocational School.

 From Romania, Codruța RUSU (Scoala Gimnaziala Lucian Blaga Bistrita), Roxana MOLDOVAN ("Lucian Blaga" Secondary School Bistrita), Cristina COBZARU (Școala Gimnaziala Nr.1 Tulucești), Florin COBZARU (Școala Gimnazială Ludovic Cosma Galați), and Alexandra PAVEL (Școala Gimnazială Sfântul Nicolae Liești) took part in the project.

 Anela KOZLICA represented Primary School "Prekounje" in Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Lucília BARROS represented Agrupamento de Escolas de Lordelo in Portugal.

From Georgia, Sophie KHVADAGIANI, Ann CHACHKHIANI, and Natia GIGAURI represented LEPL Kutaisi Saint Nino Public School #3 and actively contributed to the project activities.

 ## Scope and Activities of the Project

 A total of 118 students aged between 9 and 17 participated in the project from Türkiye, Romania, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Portugal. Among the participants were 13 primary school students, 54 middle school students, 51 high school students, and 6 students with special educational needs.

Throughout the six-month project period, students collaborated with peers from different countries and experienced intercultural learning.

The project was designed to raise awareness about the growing issue of digital screen addiction. Within this framework, students researched, played, and revived traditional street games. The history, rules, materials, and cultural characteristics of children's games from different countries were explored, resulting in the creation of a collaborative "Digital Street Games Book."

 Students introduced these games to their project partners through promotional videos and encouraged their peers and local communities to play them, thereby contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.

 In the second phase of the project, students learned the games introduced by partner countries and taught them to their classmates and friends. This provided an opportunity not only to promote their own cultures but also to gain a deeper understanding of other cultures. Photos and videos produced during these activities became valuable project outputs.

 ## Achievements and Results

 During the international online meetings organized throughout the project, students had the opportunity to improve their English communication skills, deliver presentations, work collaboratively in teams, and interact with peers from different cultural backgrounds. These experiences made significant contributions to their social, cultural, and academic development.

Various surveys were conducted to evaluate the impact of the project. The results showed that students' awareness of traditional games increased, they developed more positive attitudes toward reducing screen time, and they gained a better understanding of the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

 All project activities and outputs were disseminated through school notice boards, classroom activities, school websites, social media accounts, the project blog, and eTwinning platforms. As a result, the project reached not only the partner schools but also parents, teachers, local media, and wider communities.

 The "Would You Like to Play With Me?" project successfully achieved its objectives as an exemplary educational initiative that enhanced students' social communication skills, increased participation in physical activities, contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage, and strengthened international cooperation.

 Based on the successful outcomes of the project and the strong international partnerships established, it is planned to continue the initiative next year as an Erasmus+ project involving partners from Türkiye, Romania, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Portugal. Through this continuation, it is aimed to further strengthen international cooperation among students and teachers, increase cultural interaction, and disseminate project outcomes to a wider audience.

 We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all teachers, students, parents, and project partners who contributed to the project. We hope that the achievements and experiences gained through this project will inspire many new international projects in the future.
